Donate Life America

Donate Life America is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization leading its national partners and Donate Life State Teams to increase the number of donated organs, eyes and tissue available to save and heal lives through transplantation while developing a culture where donation is embraced as a fundamental human responsibility.

Founded as the Coalition on Donation in 1992 by the donation and transplantation community, Donate Life America changed its name in 2006 in response to extensive research and the desire to align the organization with the Donate Life brand. Over the past 25 years, Donate Life America and the Donate Life Community have registered nearly 135 Million organ, eye and tissue donors in the United States – more than 54% of the adult population. The Elks Lodge supports Donate Life America, won't you?

Commit now to giving life to others when you die. Each registration serves as a symbol of hope to every patient awaiting a lifesaving or healing transplant.

Consider Being a Living Donor

Living donation is an opportunity to save a life while you are still living. It is not covered by your donor registration.

If you donated your organs, your cornea, your tissue.......
you could save up to 8 lives.

Thanks for a Great Duffy Rally

Our 2017 Newport Harbor Elks Yacht Club Annual Duffy Rally was the best attended in many years thanks to our Bridge Officers, Members, Nauti Gals enthusiasm asking friends and family to attend the event. The good news is a number of new members attended too. All had a great time.

At the Rally BBQ two non-members participating asked me applications to join our Lodge and two Elk members asked for NHEYC applications. Also, one attendee asked for an affiliate membership application.
Many said they had a wonderful time and will be back next year to attend our annual Duffy Rally.

Phil Bradley, this year’s Duffy Rally Chairman and Maureen Schaller Nauti-Gal should be proud of the Event Results. Thank you Yacht club members and Nauti-Gals for working hard to support this event.

I would like to personally thank Sharon Dearborn, Exalted Ruler, Stan Malken, David Armstrong, Dan Roach, Art Morrell, Jeff Ruzicka, Mel Friedlander, Mike Garroutte and Tony Messina.

Thank you Pam Ellowitz, Honey Dooz President, Esperizana Canter, and Barbara Lane for taking food orders. Rosemary Zaidenberg, Nauti-Gal President thank you for your event support.

The Volunteers that manned check points Bob Pesce, Jeff Ruzicka, Jon Ellowitz, Nicole Sato and Nick Petropoulos. Excellent job!

Thank you to Ron Siegrist, Frank Cuccia, Les Shelly, and others who donated their Duffy's.
I thank all of you for your time, your donations and all your efforts you brought fraternal spirit, help, and enthusiasm that did not go un noticed.

All of you truly made this year’s Duffy Rally a success. The only exception two Duffy's are still out there looking for check point 2.

Newport Harbor Cruise for Visually Impaired Veterans

Oh What a Day!

On Wednesday, July 26, Newport Harbor Elks hosted its second harbor cruise for visually impaired veterans from the Long Beach Veterans Hospital. Phil Bradley, Veterans Chairman with the assistance of Maureen Schaller, Lodge Trustee coordinated the event.

It was a beautiful sunny day to treat 20 veterans plus their aides and bus driver to a harbor cruise. The veterans arrived at 9:30 am to a ‘welcome and get-to-know-you’ continental breakfast before boarding 3 covered pontoon boats. The boats were captained by members Frank Cuccia, Dan Roach and David Armstrong. The feel of the sun, the breeze and the ocean smells were enjoyed by the veterans and Elk volunteers. Two of the sightless veterans stated they tried to touch the water but couldn’t reach it from the boat. Next year we’ll find a way that they can touch the water to cover that sense of ‘touch’.
